Pencoys "High Flyers" 
At Pencoys we have a register of ‘Pencoys High Flyers’ and also run an after school club for some of our "High Flyers". This recognises those children who excel in any area of the school curriculum or beyond.

The Government has asked schools to identify children who have particular gifts and talents in the same way as those with individual and special needs. Teachers at Pencoys have been asked to review those children who they believe have a special skill, talent or aptitude for a particular subject. In doing so, these children will be given a ‘badge of recognition’ and their photograph will be put on our ‘hall of fame’. This has already begun and you should begin to see the badges being worn.
If you believe that your child is a ‘High Flyer’ and excels in their chosen sport, dance, art group, theatre group etc then we would like to hear from you. Either through the office or by email. (head@pencoys.cornwall.sch.uk).
With parents’ permission, Pencoys would like to celebrate our ‘High Flyers’ by not only appearing on our school website but by announcing it in the ‘Starling News’ local newsletter.
At Pencoys we strongly believe that children should be praised and recognised for other achievements too. We are keen to award 5 individual and additional badges to the child in each class who:
1. is a “GOOD FRIEND” to others
2. always tries hard and puts in a good deal of “EFFORT”
3. “LOVES TO LEARN” (is enthusiastic, a good listener, contributes well, etc)
4. demonstrates expected “BEHAVIOUR & is COURTEOUS” (is polite to all)
5. is a “SHINING STAR” (KS2) or “LITTLE GEM” (KS1) – a good all-rounder
These 5 badges will change every half term to give other children the opportunity to work towards a badge.
This is an exciting development and I hope that when visiting you will be able to easily identify the badge awards and ask the children about their achievements.
